Recipes From Winter 2019

Corned Beef And Cabbage

1 Corned Beef Flat Brisket, and herb contents from corned beef.

1 Head Of Cabbage.

1 Bag Of Carrot Sticks.

2 Large Challots.

Celery (Optional).

4 Bags Of Bird’s Eye Steam Fresh Red Potatoes with Chive And Butter Sauce Or Garlic Sauce, your choice.

1 Small Saucepan.

Electric Mixer Or Potato Masher.

Cooking Spray.

Water.

Crockpot.

I love dishes made in a crockpot because all you have to do is add ingredients to crockpot, turn crockpot on, and allow the crockpot to cook food slow all day and enjoy in the evening. I also love the Bird’s Eye Steam Fresh Red Potatoes because all you have to do is place them in the microwave, cook them, and add them to a pan and mash them, no need to dirty extra pots and pans.

Spray crockpot with cooking spray and fill crockpot about 1/3 with water. Place corned beef, herbs from corned beef, chopped cabbage, challots, celery, and carrot sticks in crockpot. Cook contents in crockpot for about 7 hours. If corned beef is not cook like it should, turn heat up on crockpot.

When food in crockpot is done cooking, add one bag at a time of the steam fresh potatoes in the microwave. When potatoes are done cooking, add to a low heated saucepan with some butter and milk. Mash potatoes with an electric mixer or potato masher.

No corned beef and cabbage is complete without it’s Soda Bread. Soda Bread can be purchased at your local bakery, grocery store, or if you have a recipe for soda bread, run with it. Enjoy on St. Patrick’s Day or anytime.

Baked Ziti

1 Box Of Cut Ziti.

1 Package Of Ground Turkey.

1 Package Of Ground Beef.

1 Jar Of Bertoli Pasta Sauce: Garlic And Olive Oil.

3 Tablespoons Of Ricotta Cheese, whole milk or part skim, your choice.

Mozzarella Cheese.

Frying Pan.

Sauce Pan.

Colander.

In a frying pan, cook ground beef and turkey thoroughly and add in a bowl and place off to the size. Fill saucepan with water and bring water to a boil. Add baked ziti to boiling water and allow baked to boil for about 20-30 minutes, or until fork tender. When pasta is done cooking, place in colander, rinse pasta and place back in saucepan. Add your ground beef and turkey, ricotta, pasta sauce, and mozzarella cheese. Generally, you place baked ziti in the oven, but I made this recipe for the stove. Great with a toss salad and Italian bread.
